The new Voltron has some great animation from Studio Mir, but what really shines is how the writing takes elements from the older show and merges it with fresh diversified character concepts and a complex serialized plot by 'childrens cartoon' standards . As of Season 5 the show has garnished interesting lore and continues to build on itself transcending the original IP in every way possible.

I mean a large portion of the fanbase is here to ship bois, but it's genuinely a great show ;P
